Ethiopian Orthodox Oxford PhD Candidates

Help change the nation of Ethiopia by sponsoring the first two PhD candidates in the history of the Saint Frumentius Abba Selama Kessate Berhan Theological College. Mengistu Aytegeb and Giday Beyene have completed the Ethiopian Orthodox/Bridges of Hope MA Program, put what they learned into action and have now been accepted into an amazing PhD Program.

Ethiopia is one of the poorest developing countries in the world. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church was founded in the first century and is historically rooted in the Old Testament. The Saint Frumentius Abba Selama Kessate Berhan Theological College was founded by the late Arch Bishop Abune Yohannes. Currently, the College is offering Certificate, diploma, degree and a masters program that is co-sponsored by Bridges of Hope International and the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. There are 21 lecturers at the college and 16 of them are MA graduates, but as of now we have no professors with a PhD. The PhD program these two dynamic professors have been accepted into is based at Stellenbosch University in South Africa and was developed in conjunction with an Oxford PhD program. Their research focus will be community development and Christian thought. To make this dream a reality all they need is financial support!

To cover transportation, lodging, tuition for each student is $4000, so the need for the 2017-2018 academic year is only $8,000. Please consider supporting these two dynamic leaders and inviting your social network to join you!
