Currently, Christians in Bangladesh must rent space from other property owners (primarily Muslim) to hold fellowship meetings, training events, worship and praise gatherings, and other events. This creates significant constrictions. Among other issues, our Muslim landlords complain if they feel the Christian celebrations are too “loud” or they interfere with designated Muslim prayer times. In addition, the funds used to secure these facilities go into the pockets of outside landlords.
Our lack of an adequate training facility creates other issues for our ministry. The men and women of BSFB are not in a position to attend any of the traditional Bible Schools or Colleges located outside of Bangladesh. This is both because they usually do not meet the traditional educational requirements and/or they cannot afford the time away from their sources of income. Being away for an extended period of time also results in leadership vacuums in their working areas. History has also shown that workers sent away for a course, especially to large cities, are less willing to go back to their home areas once their study is completed. The need for a fully-equipped local training facility is acute. It is in response to this need that the vision for the Living Waters Training Center for Spiritual Formation was born in 2003.
While the vision for Living Waters Center originated within the BSFB, we dream of a multi-level facility that will be utilized by a diverse array of Christian ministries and organizations throughout Bangladesh.
When completed, Living Waters Center will include four stories:
- Ground Floor – Car Parking
- First floor – Dining and Kitchen
- Second floor- Dormitory – 12 double beds room- 24 person (including attached bath and one balcony)
- Third floor- Dormitory – 12 double beds room – 24 person (including attached bath and one balcony)
The LWC facility will provide the following amenities:
- Fully-furnished and -equipped meeting, event, and worship spaces
- Complete kitchen and dining facilities
- Dormitory space (with full bathroom and shower facilities) for men and women
- Parking space for cars, vans, trucks, and buses
LWC will serve as the hub for the expansion and development of BSFB Bible Study Groups in each area. Emphasis will be given on providing training to our young men and women to help them to reach their unsaved friends. The Living Waters Center shall also provide a venue to train local evangelists, pastors, local church leaders, elders, women, youth, and children’s ministries, teacher training, micro-credit and primary health-care programs, pastors’ conferences, and a multitude of other events.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.MATTHEW 25:35
