AMP Los Angeles is a mentor program based in Northeast L.A. that seeks to amplify opportunities for the youth of the city. AMP succeeds in doing this through three avenues of mentoring, after-school arts programs, outings and community events, and camps.
Our after school program is arts based in which the kids we work with learn and participate in the process of making a short film. Through this process we are able to teach the skills of writing, speaking, presenting, creative expression, and leadership. Studies have shown that all of these skills help kids from an urban poor area overcome their surrounding and rise above. This is a fun and exciting way in which kids are able to learn skills that will build their confidence and help them development meaningful relationships with our mentors.
During outings we take the kids out of the city to offer new experiences and help them gain perspective. Events are times in which we invite all of the families to come together to eat, socialize, and learn about ways in which we can continue to serve.
Our camps happen twice per year and consist of a week in which we invite any and all kids from the community to come everyday to experience music, arts and crafts, games, and Bible teaching. All aspects of AMP exist as a way to share the love of God with the families in Los Angeles who need it most.
If our campaign is successful it will fund AMP for two full years!
